I’m a registered nurse in health care for 20+ years. I operate using quality improvement and change management principles, and apply them to all my workflows. At their heart, problems are essentially the same: something isn’t working. If you can figure out why, you can apply a solution and see if it works. The information below is evidence of my processes.
Each item below expands for detail.
Taught patients and families in their homes across varied health literacy levels. Precepted new nurses and nursing students at two hospitals. Presented infection data to frontline staff and executive leadership at the VA, and translated clinical workflows into technical requirements for the systems I built there.
Four years managing a federal infection control program under VA, Joint Commission, CMS, and CDC/DHSS requirements. Built data systems handling clinical data inside the VA environment. Ran construction risk assessments as pre-occupancy safety gates, and participated in mortality reviews and root cause analyses.
Able to travel up to 30% for customer deployments and on-site work. Happy to discuss scheduling specifics directly.
Designed and owned the Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, and Power Automate infrastructure for the VA infection control program and built four production systems (see Clinical Informatics Projects below). At Menorah, I’m rebuilding the data sources behind infection and quality reporting, tracing each metric to its origin before it drives action.
Certified in Infection Control. Yellow Belt in Lean process improvement. Infection surveillance, mortality review, root cause analysis, and state survey readiness. Preceptor for new nurses and nursing students at Legacy Emanuel and Providence.
In home health, I noticed patients with the same condition received the same 5–7 care goals regardless of individual circumstances. I developed a working playbook standardizing care for congestive heart failure patients after hospital discharge: required assessment domains (medications, food and fluid restriction, daily weights, comorbidity and smoking management, remote monitoring), cited teaching points written for patients, explicit escalation thresholds (1–3 lb gained overnight or 3–5 lb in a week triggers provider contact), and eligibility criteria for remote monitoring. I used it in my own patient visits; it was still a work in progress when I left home health.
Inpatient surgical nursing, home health case management, long-term care leadership, and hospital infection prevention at a federal and a private health system.
Built AIdev, a Claude-powered developmental editor for full-length manuscripts, to reduce the need for a paid developmental edit and put that budget toward line and copy editing. See AI Work below.
Also built a self-looping Claude agent with persistent memory (Supabase), run across 79+ documented cycles.
Infection preventionist at an HCA hospital: chart review to identify hospital-acquired infections, unit rounding, and root cause analysis.
Rebuilding the data sources behind infection and quality reporting (isolation log, MDRO log, HAI audits, quality control tracker), tracing each metric to its origin before turning it into action items for leadership.
Ran the infection prevention program for the medical center and its outpatient clinics: HAI surveillance, chart review, root cause analysis, mortality review, and construction and environmental risk assessment. Represented infection control on the Water Safety, Environment of Care, Construction Safety, and Infection Control committees.
Built four production informatics systems for the program. See Clinical Informatics Projects below.
Directed nursing operations across independent living, assisted living, long-term care, and acute rehabilitation; managed staff, budget, census, and regulatory compliance.
Led the facility COVID-19 response, updating protocols daily against CDC and Missouri DHSS guidance. Infection surveillance, trend analysis, and state survey preparation.
Managed a caseload of up to 30 home health patients across a wide range of conditions: admission assessment, a nursing plan of care sent for physician sign-off, and ongoing visits.
Monitored patients against plan-of-care parameters, taught patients and families across varied health literacy levels, and reported changes to providers with recommended adjustments to the medical regimen.
Developed and used working playbooks standardizing post-discharge home health care for common conditions, including congestive heart failure and pneumonia: required assessments, patient teaching points, and condition-specific escalation thresholds.
Complex wound care, IV therapy, and medication reconciliation; precepted new nurses and nursing students.
3–6 acutely ill patients per 12-hour night shift on a high-volume surgical unit. Preceptor for new hires and nursing students.
When the VA’s commercial surveillance tool ended abruptly in April 2024, the department was left with manual review. With no prior Palantir experience, I built an interim surveillance system inside Palantir within two weeks, then a permanent zero-cost in-house system querying hundreds of thousands of culture results from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse. When the Palantir contract later ended, the in-house system kept infection surveillance running. A commercial replacement was estimated at six figures a year, and the VA was not going to fund one.
Replaced manual Excel-based tracking of CAUTI, CLABSI, and VAE with an automated SharePoint and Power BI system. Unit-level dashboards updated daily for frontline staff and leadership.
Converted an email-based construction risk assessment process into a LEAF digital workflow with Power BI dashboards. Coordinated Facility Management, Infection Control, and Construction from design through go-live. Near-100% completion compliance after deployment; 1–2 hours of administrative time saved weekly.
Replaced a macro-dependent Excel system with a mobile Power Apps interface backed by SharePoint and nightly-updated Power BI dashboards. Audit completion rates increased after rollout and staff training.
Built to reduce the need for a paid developmental edit, so a structurally sound manuscript could go to beta readers and more of the budget could go to line and copy editing.
Grew from eight general passes to about two dozen granular audits covering structure, character, pacing, point of view, worldbuilding, and theme, plus a synthesis pass that consolidates findings into a single editorial letter. Whole-manuscript analysis for global passes; chunked processing for close-reading passes; scripted pre-flight checks that run locally at no API cost.
Each pass was re-run with its prior findings as context, continuing past the model’s own “complete” signal until new findings dropped in relevance. Diagnosed model refusal and looping on sensitive content and moved analysis to the model that handled it reliably.
Used on a full manuscript before a nine-reader beta review; beta findings are now being mapped back to individual passes to refine them. Live walkthrough on request.
A self-looping Claude agent with persistent memory stored in Supabase, run across 79+ documented cycles.
GPA 3.91. Presidential Achievement Award. Three consecutive semesters with 4.0 GPA.
National certification in infection prevention and control.
Applied to clinical workflow analysis and data system design at the VA.
